Wonderland
Tucked away in a quiet corner of the city close to the harbor and the Elbphilharmonie, Sir Nikolai offers a personal hotel experience that caters to a playful and stylish clientele. It starts with the reception desk that is literally a small antique table settled in the middle of the lounge area were a wonderfully charming employee checked me in, brought me coffee and gave me candy…. definitely a good start.
Plush cushioned sofas, eclectic pictures, indirect lighting combined with a touch of antiquity but from today not yesteryear. I like this approach. The glass ceiling in the breakfast room lights up every food perfectly for that instagram photo to remember your delicious pancakes with fresh fruits. Up in the room the design follows suit with a collapsible mirror embedded in the writing desk (for the last touch up before a night out). Finally a use for those desks in the hotels that no one never ever knows what they are for except for business travelers.
The in-room bathtub is a brilliant feature especially as it close to the 65 inch flat screen that connects via Apple Play or Android to your phone which means you can log into the hotels WiFi and stream your favorite shows or youtube videos to the TV while soaking in a tub – I did exactly that and it was absolutely brilliant! (Watched my favorite Netflix Show). Everything in the room has a purpose and the design theme goes hand in hand from the golden bar trolley to the black marble side table next to the tub.
As it goes with all hotels I tested in Hamburg Sir Nikolai doesn’t disappoint either with their breakfast buffet and includes ala carte options with all the favorites (Eggs Benedict, Pancakes, French Toast and so on)
I will keep you guys updated as I heard that they are building a Spa Area at the end of the year which makes it even more inviting to stay at the enchanting Sir Nikolai.
