Looking for Loren
Driving through the Amalfi Coast might be one of the most wonderful experiences you can have and I can only recommend it to anyone. On this trip I was looking for a special place in Sorrento where once in a blue moon the divine actress named Sophie Loren dined and wined. This place is the Trattoria da Emilia. The years have passed and the people have come and gone but this restaurant still exists since 1947 and is a hot spot in Sorrento. Of course I was not the only one there trying to relive a moment in history which means busy waiters and a lot of people but nonetheless it was still glorious. You won’t find a nostalgic version of “Scandal in Sorrento” here but the food is delicious – the Spaghetti ala vongole is still heartwarming and sitting there close to the fisher boats and the sea you might even glimpse a second of how life was simpler back then – maybe less stressful & slower but back then only a handful of people knew about this place and thanks to technology I am one of those enjoying a sunset and a mouthful of spaghetti.
Buon Appetito!
Spaghetti alle vongole – Italian for spaghetti with clams, is a dish that is very popular throughout Italy, especially its central regions, including Rome and further south in Campania (where it is part of traditional Neapolitan cuisine).
