The Gourmet Hot Dog
is finally getting the attention it deserves. Slowly but surely it is making its way into the cities but if you are by any chance in Cape Town Gourmet Boerie will keep you happy. What i am talking about is that after the Gourmet Burger made it to the mainstream cuisine people have been waiting for the Hot Dog Version to hit their cities. In Cape Town people love this place which specializes in hand crafted South African artisanal boerewors (a special sausage invented here) which comes in its traditional form with caramelized onions (Old Skool Boereie) but here you have the choice to up the ante with tomato salsa, sour cream, guacamole and coriander (Mexicano) or go with tomato relish, caramelized onions and mustard mayo (Colonel Mustard) but these are just a few versions out of the tasty menu of Gourmet Boeries minimally designed one of a kind restaurant. I ordered two To-Go to enjoy them at the beach. So next time you are in Cape Town go with the flow and order up some fancy hot dogs.
Boerewors ([ˈbuːrəvors]) is a type of sausage popular in South African cuisine and Zimbabwean cuisine. The name is derived from the Afrikaans words boer (“farmer”) and wors (“sausage”). Boerewors must contain at least 90 percent meat – always containing beef, as well as lamb or pork or a mixture of lamb and pork. The other 10% is made up of spices and other ingredients.Gourmet Boerie
