Amazing shrimps off the beaten path at Geste Shrimp Truck

Somewhere in the middle of nowhere, a bit off the highway, down a path approaching a little harbor – there is a small patch of grass and dirt. It’s here that you’ll find the secret seduction that is the Geste Shrimp Truck. This may not sound  like a tempting spot to feed, but when the Geste Truck pulls up, that’s when the magic happens. The minutes felt like hours as we waited by the waterfront, wondering if we were in the wrong spot. Then, at around 11 am it just appeared out of thin air (it actually just drove up unceremoniously, but what’s life without whimsy). The vendors started serving one of the most delicious versions of shrimps we have tasted on this side of the pacific. The selection is simple: 12 shrimps, 4 flavors , crab salad and one scoop of rice. It basically doesn’t matter which combination you pick, believe me you will not be disappointed. My choice was the classic shrimp plate with Lemon Pepper marinade and a grilled hot dog cut up in it. It sounded crazy but turned out to be a great idea and worth the risk. It was spicy, succulent and crunchy in all the right places, the rice had just the right amount of fluff, it was unexpectedly harmonious. I could go on like this, but just try it out yourself. It’s worth the drive…damn it’s worth a cab ride to this weird place.

If you are looking for tables or a seating area, you won’t find them here, but you do have a view of the ocean and the soothing sound of the highway to complete your out-of-island experience. There is a tree stump on the beach were we sat down to enjoy the eats. Hope it’s still there for you guys.
